The Study Group on the History of Sports and Physical Education / Unimontes-MG (GEHEF) and the Center for Sports Memory - CEMESP/Unimontes (CEMESP), in partnership with the Regional Museum of Northern Minas (MRNM), will host an exhibition to represent and communicate the stories of body practices and sports that were related to the development of the region in the hinterlands of Minas Gerais.
From October 5th to 31st, our exhibition aims to propose narratives about the development of modern aspects in the northern Minas Gerais region in the 20th century and to examine the existing social connections between the adoption of new customs and the old local traditions. The exhibition will take place at the Regional Museum of Northern Minas (MRNM), part of the State University of Montes Claros (Unimontes/MG), in the Cultural Corridor of the city.
Admission to the exhibition and museum is free. The exhibition program includes a seminar throughout the month of October, with the participation of academics, teachers, and members of the community who played important roles in the historical development of various body practices and sports in the region.
There will also be over 100 newspaper and magazine articles, 50 photographs, 5 video testimonials, and 35 objects that will help tell the many stories of the sports history of the Minas Gerais hinterlands!
